Dubai welcomed 8.12 million international tourists from January to May this year, according to a report released by the Ministry of Economy and Tourism.
This figure represents an increase of almost 10 percent compared to the same period last year, which recorded 7.39 million tourists.
The city attracted 1.77 million international tourists in January, 1.9 million in February, 1.51 million in March, 1.5 million in April and 1.44 million in May.
Western European countries top the list of countries exporting tourists to Dubai with a percentage of 21 percent – or 1.728 million tourists – followed by South Asia with 1.399 million tourists, or 17 percent of the total number of visitors.
Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States and Eastern Europe come third in the list of countries exporting tourists to Dubai with 1.246 million, or 15 percent of the emirate’s total visitors, followed by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in fourth position. with 1.045 million tourists, or 13 percent of the total number of visitors.
Countries from the Middle East and North Africa come fifth in the list of countries exporting tourists to Dubai with 947 thousand tourists, or 12 percent, followed by countries from Northeast and South Asia -Is with a share of 9 percent, or approximately 764 thousand visitors.
According to data from the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, the number of visitors to Dubai from the Americas in the first five months of this year reached 528,000, or 7 percent of the total number of visitors, while the Visitor numbers from Africa reached 528,000. 339,000, or about 4 percent, and from Australasia 123,000, or about 1 percent of total international visitors to Dubai during the same period.
The number of hotel rooms in Dubai reached 150,202 rooms in 822 establishments at the end of May 2023, compared to 148,754 rooms in 812 establishments at the end of May 2023. Average hotel occupancy rate in all operating establishments in Dubai during of the first five months of this period. the year reached 81 percent, compared to around 80 percent during the same period in 2023.
The number of rooms booked in the first five months of this year exceeded 18.34 million rooms, an increase of 4 percent compared to the same period of 2023, when the number of rooms booked reached around 17, 71 million rooms.
