The Executive Council of Dubai has endorsed a strategic plan to develop areas surrounding Metro stations.
With the hope of boosting economic opportunities in these areas and increasing public transport usage to 45%, while also significantly reducing carbon emissions to 16 tonnes per capita.
The plan envisions expanding from 64 operational stations across 84 square kilometres currently to 96 stations covering 140 square kilometres by 2030.

By 2040, the initiative targets 140 stations spread over 228 square kilometres, signalling a comprehensive effort to enhance urban connectivity and sustainability in Dubai.
