During the event, Sheikh Khaled also witnessed the launch of strategic partnerships between IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi, its main campus in Delhi, and several prominent Abu Dhabi-based institutions. These include Khalifa University, Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, and Zayed University.

The new campus will collaborate with Khalifa University on research and academic programmes, sharing research facilities and facilitating student and faculty exchanges.

With Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi will engage in joint research projects, postgraduate student exchanges and academic seminars.

The partnership with Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence will focus on joint research, teaching programmes and internships. Meanwhile, Zayed University will collaborate on faculty and student exchanges, education and research, and host joint academic events.

During his visit, Sheikh Khaled toured the IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi campus and reviewed its offerings, including Bachelor of Technology programmes in Energy Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering, as well as a master’s programme in Energy Transition and Sustainability.

Sheikh Khaled emphasised the institute’s crucial role in supporting Abu Dhabi’s vision of becoming a global hub for education and knowledge, aiding efforts to combat climate change, and advancing the emirate’s position in research and development.

The agreement between Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge, the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and the Ministry of Education of India to establish the institute’s Abu Dhabi campus was witnessed by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and  Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in July 2023.

The partnership complements the ongoing UAE-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and reflects the shared vision of both nations to prioritise educational excellence, knowledge exchange and investment in human capital as the foundations for future prosperity and enablers of long-term economic growth and sustainable development.
