The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has announced a landmark update to residency and work procedures in the UAE, transforming the process to be faster, smoother, and more user-friendly. Now, residency visas that once took days can be processed in just minutes.

These updates align with the UAE’s Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme, an ambitious initiative to streamline government services. By cutting paperwork by up to 100% and eliminating numerous procedural steps, MoHRE has made life significantly easier for expatriates and residents alike.

With a new focus on the entire customer journey, MoHRE has integrated advanced digital systems, automated processes, and launched transformative services. Among these innovations is the ‘Work Bundle’, an integrated digital platform enabling private-sector companies and employees to complete all necessary residency and work procedures in one streamlined process.

Developed in partnership with agencies such as the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship and Emirates Health Services, the Work Bundle eliminates extensive paperwork, reduces wait times, and minimizes in-person visits. Some of the impressive reductions include a 72% decrease in required procedures, 93% fewer form fields, 79% fewer required documents, and a 77% drop in required visits—all resulting in an 83% faster processing time.

MoHRE has also introduced an AI-powered platform to enhance labour market services, handling work permit issuance and renewals, complaint processing, and job experience certificate issuance—all in under two minutes. Additionally, integration with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, and Customs now allows for automatic work permit renewals, removing the need for any in-person interaction.

These developments mark a significant shift in reducing bureaucratic hurdles, signaling a new era of efficient, accessible government services for residents in the UAE.
