Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed internal road and lighting works in five industrial zones in Al Qusais to triple road capacity from 500 vehicles per hour to 1,500.
The project, in industrial zones one, two, three, four and five of Al Qusais, included the construction of 32 roads covering 10 kilometers and the installation of street lights over 43,000 meters.
His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority, commented: “This internal roads project aligns with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and the Ruler of Dubai, as well as the instructions of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council.
“These guidelines call for upgrading infrastructure in residential and industrial areas to support the growing population and urbanization in the emirate, foster well-being and promote happiness.
The internal roads project improved connectivity with four main streets: Amman Street, Beirut Street, Aleppo Street and Damascus Street. It also improved access and egress points to over 320 workshops, 25 residential buildings, shops and educational institutions, benefiting around 60,000 residents in the region.
