The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) marked World No Tobacco Day with a powerful anti-tobacco campaign highlighting the health risks associated with tobacco products.
The campaign, organized by the MoHAP Health Promotion Department, has been running since May 22 to coincide with World No Tobacco Day, observed annually on May 31.
Smoking shortens the lives of smokers by 10 years on average, because they have suffered from smoking-related illnesses for many years.

Information workshops and lectures formed a large part of the campaign, which aimed to educate people about the harmful effects of tobacco, such as reducing lifespans by 10 years on average.
The campaign also highlights ways smokers can quit, while offering “nicotine” tests to participants attending events.
Activities took place across the UAE, including schools in Sharjah, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain University and the Emirates Association for Social Development in Ras Al Khaimah.
