UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Friday participated in the G7 Summit session on artificial intelligence and energy, held in Italy.

The session, which took place under the theme “Energy and artificial intelligence / Africa and the Mediterranean region”, was opened by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

Sheikh Mohamed highlighted the need for collective action to ensure responsible engagement in emerging technologies and leveraging these technologies to deliver sustainable solutions in the energy sector.

He highlighted that the world is currently facing many challenges having a significant impact on the Middle East and Africa, particularly in the energy sector.

His Highness affirmed the UAE’s commitment to establishing an integrated artificial intelligence system through programs, laws, initiatives and partnerships.

It also supports a just and balanced transition in the energy sector, stemming from the UAE Consensus, which has served as a successful model for international cooperation, he added.

Sheikh Mohamed expressed hope that this key session would lay the foundation for a new phase of collective action, which would help prevent emerging technologies from widening the development gap between nations and instead serve as a channel for development sustainability, security and prosperity.

At the end of his speech, a video presentation highlighted the UAE’s ambitious vision and aspirations to invest in artificial intelligence. The video also showcased the UAE’s significant achievements in this area, with perspectives from several experts and officials.
