An industrial facility in Abu Dhabi has been ordered to suspend operations for violating environmental laws and regulations.

Inspection reports and public complaints revealed that the plant, which specializes in processing waste oil, was emitting foul gas odors, in non-compliance with environmental permit requirements.

The Abu Dhabi Environment Agency said the facility, located in the Al Mafraq industrial zone, conducted operational processes without taking precautionary measures to prevent emissions, and did not committed to installing air pollution control devices, which are part of the Agency’s requirements.

The authority added that it had halted operations due to repeated violations that had a negative impact on nearby residential areas.

The EAD called on all industrial establishments operating in the emirate of Abu Dhabi to comply with the legal and technical requirements included in the environmental license issued to them.
