The Dubai Press Club has relaunched an award, initially introduced in 2001 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to identify and nurture young media talents.

“Ibda’a – The Arab Youth Media Award” was unveiled during the second edition of the Arab Youth Media Forum, held on Monday as part of the Arab Media Summit.

The initiative will showcase excellence among Arab media students, both in the region and globally. It will have seven categories, including photography, podcasting, short videos, e-sports, animation, graphics and journalism.

Details on application requirements, evaluation criteria and awards will be announced in the coming weeks.

“Inspired by the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, we aim to empower young Arabs to become significant contributors to the development of the region’s media landscape. Our commitment lies in forging strong partnerships with those who share our belief in the unlimited potential of youth,” said His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council.

This award, which will be aligned with current advancements in the media industry, aims to encourage Arab media students to achieve the highest levels of excellence in their studies.

The ultimate goal is to foster the development of a new generation of creative professionals capable of significantly improving the media landscape of the Arab world.
