New lanes spanning 6.8km have been added to roads in Dubai’s Al Mizhar area, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has confirmed. The A11 and A26 streets were widened from two to four lanes in both directions, doubling road capacity from 1,200 vehicles to 2,400 vehicles per hour.

According to the RTA, the expansion is also expected to cut congestion times in half during peak hours.

The project also added 551 parking spaces as well as a 5.7 km cycle path.

Improvements are underway across the emirate for the RTA, with 45 sites across Dubai under construction to ease traffic flow and improve the city’s overall road network.
