The UAE is allocating 70% of its $100 million pledge to Sudan and neighboring countries as part of efforts to ease the humanitarian crisis.

Since the start of the humanitarian crisis, the UAE has been one of the largest contributors of humanitarian aid to Sudan and Africa.

The UAE has established an air bridge with Sudan and neighboring Chad to provide support and aid to the Sudanese people, providing $130 million in humanitarian aid and 9,500 tonnes of food and medical supplies so far through the operation of 148 rescue planes. In addition to sending a ship carrying approximately 1,000 tons of emergency relief supplies.

The UAE’s allocation aims to address the crisis and prevent a further deterioration of the humanitarian situation and the imminent risk of famine in Sudan, as well as to provide food and health services, support to livelihoods, emergency shelter and protection of women.

His Excellency Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, said:

“The assistance provided to Sudan and neighboring countries by the UAE reflects the unwavering commitment of the country’s leadership to provide humanitarian and relief support to the brotherly Sudanese people, address humanitarian challenges and continually expand assistance and support for Sudan.”

His Excellency also added: “The UAE has built two field hospitals in the Chadian towns of Amdjarass and Abéché to support the brotherly Sudanese people. Hospital care is extended to all civilians in need, without distinction of nationality, age, sex or political affiliation. The number of patients treated at Amdjarass hospital since its creation has reached 29,378.”
