Dubai Police is stepping up its road safety awareness efforts, alongside the “A Summer Without Accidents” campaign organized by the Ministry of Interior.
The initiative, which runs until September 1, is part of efforts to reduce the number of road accidents and resulting injuries and deaths across the country.
At a press conference on Monday, officials representing Dubai Police, Ras Al Khaimah Police, the Federal Traffic Council and other entities highlighted the importance of the annual campaign to integrate the efforts of various police agencies to improve road safety and security.
They called on motorists to respect speed limits, avoid distractions while driving, maintain a safe distance between vehicles and take preventive measures such as checking the condition of tires and not leaving lighters, perfumes, batteries, portable chargers, hand sanitizers, gas bottles. and other flammable objects inside the vehicle.
During the press conference, Major General Abdulla Ali Al Ghaithi, Deputy Commander of Operational Affairs of Dubai Police, highlighted the number of road accident-related deaths in Dubai during the summer months ( from June 1 to August 31) during the last three years:
- 2023: 30 dead, 45 seriously injured, 308 moderately injured and 283 lightly injured
- 2022: 36 deaths, 35 serious injuries, 314 moderate injuries and 315 light injuries
- 2021: 26 deaths, 41 serious injuries, 178 moderate injuries and 217 light injuries
