Two children have died in a fire that broke out in a house in the Al Tuwiyain area of ​​Fujairah.

An 8-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy were victims of the fire which broke out in the family home.

According to Fujairah Police, the Civil Protection Operations Room was alerted to the incident at 2am on Tuesday.

Emergency response teams quickly reached the scene and brought the fire under control, but were unable to save the two Emirati children. They rescued a five-year-old child who was seriously injured.

An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the fire.

Major General Mohammed Ahmed bin Ghanem Al Kaabi, Commander-in-Chief of Fujairah Police, expressed his condolences and wished a speedy recovery to the injured family members.

Brigadier General Ali Obaid Al Tunaiji, Director of Fujairah Civil Defense Department, stressed the importance of taking adequate fire safety measures at home, especially as the summer season approaches.

He also urged residents to ensure the maintenance of power lines and their extensions as well as electrical appliances.
