Abu Dhabi Police launch their ‘Safe Summer’ awareness campaign, highlighting the importance of avoiding leaving specific items in cars to prevent fires, especially during hot summer months.

Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Engineer Adel Naseeb Al-Saqri, Head of the Fire Section at the Forensic Evidence Department, highlighted that neglecting safety measures contributes significantly to vehicle fires.

The six items drivers should avoid leaving in their cars include:

1.     Aerosol cans
2.    Batteries
3.    Energy storage devices
4.    Hand sanitizer
5.    Perfumes
6.    Gas cylinders

These items, if exposed to sunlight or heat, can pose a fire hazard due to their flammable nature. Vehicles themselves contain flammable materials such as fuel, oils, and various internal components which can exacerbate fire risks.

Lieutenant Colonel Al-Saqri emphasised the importance of regular vehicle maintenance conducted by qualified technicians to mitigate fire risks.

Additionally, he advised keeping a fire extinguisher and a first aid kit in vehicles to provide necessary protection and immediate response in case of emergencies.

This campaign aims to raise awareness among drivers about proactive measures to safeguard themselves and their vehicles against fire accidents, ensuring a safer driving experience, particularly during the summer season.
