His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Andrej Plenković, Prime Minister of Croatia, in Zagreb on Monday. The two officials signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on political consultations between their respective foreign ministries.

The meeting was part of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah’s working visit to Croatia, during which they discussed avenues for cooperation and partnership between the two countries to support their efforts towards comprehensive development and sustainable economic prosperity.

The two sides also explored opportunities to enhance collaboration in various sectors, including economic and investment, renewable energy, climate change, and other vital areas of mutual interest. 

During the meeting, Prime Minister Plenković announced Croatia’s intention to open an embassy in the UAE as part of efforts to deepen bilateral relations across different levels. 

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed his happiness at visiting Croatia, highlighting that the relations between the two countries are solid and evolving, with a mutual commitment to advancing it to new levels of growth and prosperity for the benefit of both peoples.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah and Prime Minister Plenković also exchanged views on several issues of common interest, with H.H. Sheikh Abdullah extending his best wishes for Croatia’s progress and prosperity.

Additionally, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Davor Božinović signed a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Interior of the UAE and the Ministry of Interior of Croatia concerning mutual recognition and exchange of driving licences.

The meeting was attended by Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Assistant Foreign Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs, and Ahmed Alattar, Non-Resident Ambassador of the UAE to Croatia.
