Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), has highlighted the pioneering and inspiring role of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, The Mother of the Nation, in a statement ahead of Emirati Women’s Day on August 28.
He praised the Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation for her work in empowering Emirati women, serving as a model for women worldwide.
He also said Emirati women are strategic partners in driving sustainability through various roles, whether in their families by being good role models or in professional and societal settings.
In other messages, Mohamed Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, stressed that Emirati women are indispensable partners in driving the UAE’s development and prosperity, owing to the boundless support from the UAE leadership, which has spared no effort to empower women and boost their roles across various sectors.
Shamma bint Suhail Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Community Development, said that celebrating Emirati women is a recognition of their pivotal role in society, as they are the beating heart of the family and a cornerstone in raising a conscious generation capable of meeting challenges.
In a statement marking Emirati Women’s Day, Al Mazrouei explained that the impact of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak is the greatest source of inspiration and support for Emirati women at all stages of their lives.
Sheikh Salem bin Khalid Al Qassimi, Minister of Culture, stated that the UAE, since its establishment by the Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, has laid strong foundations for building a resilient nation.
He said, “Guided by science, knowledge, and faith, the country has been a pioneer in empowering women across vital sectors, investing in their capabilities, skills, and experiences. Today, this empowerment stands as a model across various fields.”
Sheikh Salem highlighted the UAE’s most recent achievement of ranking seventh globally and first regionally in the Gender Equality Index, according to the 2024 Human Development Report issued by the United Nations Development Programme.
