409 mosquito breeding sites have been eliminated to stop the spread of dengue fever in the UAE, confirmed Abdul Rahman bin Mohamed Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention.

Al Owais was responding to a question on the theme of the virus during the last meeting with the Federal National Council.

Nine specialist teams from the Emirates Health Services Corporation used GPS trackers to locate mosquito sites, which have multiplied across the country following last month’s floods.

Dengue cases have been reported in Dubai at an unusually high rate following the rainy weather.

Globally, the number of dengue cases is increasing and is endemic in more than 100 countries, according to the World Health Organization.
