The United Arab Emirates, representing the Arab Group, together with the European Union, stressed the importance of a ceasefire in Gaza to end the humanitarian crisis.
His Excellency the UAE Ambassador, Abu Shehab, is currently chairing the group for the month of May and has highlighted the need to protect civilians, aid workers and UN staff.
A statement issued by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry during a recent meeting focused on controlling the situation in Palestine and preventing a situation in the West Bank.

Arab foreign ministers also called for the opening of all land crossings between Israel and the Gaza Strip to increase the flow of aid.
Sameh Shoukry, the Egyptian Foreign Minister, also stressed the importance of providing support to the Palestinian Authority so that it can continue to carry out its duties, stressing the need for Israel to hand over to the Authority Palestinian customs clearance funds withheld.
