22 “Chief AI Officers” have been appointed across all government entities in Dubai by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council.
Individuals will spearhead cutting-edge technology projects as part of the emirate’s vision to leverage AI in government operations, as Dubai aims to become a global hub for the development of the new technology.
Dubai also aims to consolidate the emirate’s position as a global hub for AI governance and legislation, while facilitating the adoption of AI in strategic sectors.

Additionally, the initiative strengthens Dubai’s position in the Global AI Readiness Index, where it currently holds a position in the top 10.
The newly appointed AI officers represent several government entities in Dubai, including: Dubai Community Development Authority, Dubai Government Human Resources Department, Dubai Customs, Dubai Police, Judicial Council, Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Dubai Digital Authority, Directorate General of Civil Defense in Dubai, Data Establishment and of Dubai Statistics, Dubai Health Authority, Public Prosecution Service, Dubai Protocol Department, Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University, Department of Economics and Tourism, Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, Dubai Department of Finance, Endowments and Minors’ Trust Foundation (Awqaf Dubai) and Dubai Municipality.
